Limited data for Myanmar. Figures for safety, healthcare, cost of living and political stability in Myanmar are country-level estimates from World Bank indicators, each named with its year. We have no tax, English, social openness or internet speed figures for Myanmar, so the quiz scores those factors conservatively and this page leaves them out.

Travel advisory. As of 13 October 2026, the US State Department advises against all travel to Myanmar ("Level 4: Do Not Travel"). Our quiz and best-cities lists leave Yangon out, and the safety figures below are country averages that do not reflect the advisory. Residency and visas

Hard to obtain. Long-term residency hinges on employer-sponsored employment or business visas, or family ties to a Myanmar citizen via a social visa; a discretionary permanent-residence program exists for experts, investors, former citizens, and relatives, but only after two to three years of prior in-country residence, and there is no retirement, passive-income, or investment-based route.

For short visits, 9 of 198 passports can enter visa-free, 93 can get an e-visa or visa on arrival and 96 need a visa in advance.
