Agreement to these terms

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a binding agreement between you and OurNextCity (“OurNextCity”, “we”, “us”). They govern your use of our website and the service we provide through it. If you do not agree with them, please do not use OurNextCity. Your use of the service is also subject to our Privacy Policy.

Who can use OurNextCity

You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a contract to use OurNextCity. By using it, you confirm that you meet these requirements and that the information you give us is accurate.

What OurNextCity does

OurNextCity helps two people privately answer the same relocation questions and then merges your weighted answers into one ranked shortlist of cities, showing where you agree and where you differ. We compute match scores and show visa and residency notes drawn from public sources to help you have a better conversation about where to live next.

Informational only, not professional advice

This is important. The scores, rankings, cost figures, and visa, tax, residency, and immigration notes we show are informational and are based on public data that can be incomplete or out of date. They are not legal, tax, immigration, financial, or relocation advice, and they are not a substitute for professional guidance. Always verify the current rules with an official source or a qualified advisor before making any decision. You are responsible for the decisions you make.

Your account

Sign-in is passwordless, through a magic link sent to your email or through a social login you choose. You are responsible for keeping access to that email account and any connected logins secure, and for activity that happens under your account. Tell us promptly at hello@ournextcity.com if you think someone else has gained access.

Inviting a partner

OurNextCity is built for two people. When you invite a partner, you confirm that you have their consent to share their email address with us for that purpose. Be considerate: invite only someone who wants to make this decision with you. Each person's individual answers remain private to them, as described in our Privacy Policy.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• use OurNextCity for anything unlawful, harmful, or abusive;
• invite people without their consent or send unwanted messages;
• attempt to access another person's account, project, or answers;
• scrape, copy, or resell our data, scores, or content in bulk;
• probe, disrupt, or overload the service, or bypass its security or rate limits;
• reverse engineer the service except where the law expressly allows it.

Plus subscription and billing

OurNextCity offers a free tier and a paid “Plus” subscription. Plus is billed monthly through Stripe and renews automatically each period until you cancel. Prices are shown at checkout and may be exclusive of taxes, which are added where required.

• Cancelling. You can cancel at any time from your account. Your Plus access continues until the end of the period you have already paid for, and it is not renewed after that.
• Price changes. If we change the price of Plus, we will give you advance notice, and the new price applies to your next renewal.
• Free tier. The free tier remains available without a card.

If you are a consumer in the EU or UK, you may have a statutory right to cancel within 14 days of subscribing. Because Plus gives immediate access to digital content, you acknowledge that this right may end once the service has been fully provided. Nothing in these Terms limits any non-waivable consumer rights you have under local law.

Your content and our content

The answers and project details you provide remain yours. You grant us the limited licence needed to host and process them so we can operate the service for you and your partner, as described in our Privacy Policy. Everything else, including the OurNextCity name, the design, the city dataset, and the scoring engine, is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property law. We grant you a personal, non-transferable right to use the service for your own relocation decision. City photography is provided by Unsplash and is subject to the Unsplash License.

Third-party services

OurNextCity relies on third parties such as Stripe, Resend, and the sign-in providers you choose. Your use of those services through OurNextCity is also subject to their own terms, and we are not responsible for them.

Availability and changes

We work to keep OurNextCity available and accurate, but we provide it on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We may update, change, or discontinue features, datasets, or the service itself, and we may add or adjust limits to keep it running well for everyone.

Disclaimers and limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, OurNextCity is provided without warranties of any kind, and we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential losses, or for any decision you make based on the information we show. Our total liability to you for any claim relating to the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or fifty euros (or the equivalent in your billing currency). Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

Termination

You can stop using OurNextCity and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these Terms or use the service in a way that risks harm to others or to OurNextCity. Provisions that by their nature should survive, such as the disclaimers and limitation of liability, continue after termination.

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make a material change, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, let you know in the app or by email. By continuing to use OurNextCity after a change takes effect, you agree to the updated Terms.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, and the competent courts of the United Arab Emirates will have exclusive jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence.
