Taxes

Bangladesh sits in our low to medium tax tier: moderate personal income tax. The tier applies to every city here, and couples who cap tax below it will not see these cities in their results.

Residency and visas

Hard to obtain. Long-term residency is essentially investment-only, via a private-investor (PI) visa that converts to permanent residency after investing in a local Bangladeshi company; there is no retirement or passive-income route and salaried foreigners need an employer-sponsored work permit.

The cheapest self-funded routes we track for Bangladesh:

  • Investment: about $75k (Bangladesh permanent residency by investment, USD 75,000 non-repatriable into a registered local company; as of June 2026)

For short visits, 23 of 198 passports can enter visa-free, 144 can get an e-visa or visa on arrival and 31 need a visa in advance.
