Limited data for Nicaragua. Figures for safety, healthcare, cost of living and political stability in Nicaragua are country-level estimates from World Bank indicators, each named with its year. We have no tax, English, social openness or internet speed figures for Nicaragua, so the quiz scores those factors conservatively and this page leaves them out.

Residency and visas

Comparatively open. Realistic routes are the pensionado (retiree) and rentista (passive-income) sufficient-means permits, now temporary residency, plus a low-cost investor route that still grants permanent residency; all thresholds are denominated in US dollars so no currency conversion is needed.

The cheapest self-funded routes we track for Nicaragua:

  • Income: about $1,000 a month (Nicaragua pensionado (retiree) residency, USD 1,000/mo pension income; the rentista non-pension passive-income route requires USD 1,250/mo (figures applied by Migracion since the 2024 reform repealing Ley 694); as of June 2026)
  • Investment: about $30k (Nicaragua investor permanent-residency route, USD 30,000 lump sum into real estate, a local business, or approved agro-forestry projects; as of June 2026)

For short visits, 89 of 198 passports can enter visa-free, 73 can get an e-visa or visa on arrival and 36 need a visa in advance.
